Actually, the news here did report yesterday that two people had been arrested for looting. There are bad apples everywhere, but we do have some fine people guarding the area, including men and women from many of the surrounding area's police departments to our National Guard.

Deb, Oklahoma is predominately red clay, although I do not know its composition. I have always heard the reason so few homes here are built with basements is due to the clay soil and the various problems that creates.

El_Duderino, the problem here is that most of the soil is red clay. Clay holds more water than other types of soil allowing moisture to seep through basement walls causing leaks and mold. When the clay dries out it then shifts causing cracks in walls and foundations.

Nothing is going on, Creek Dog. While it's a bit later than usual thanks to the Winter That Wouldn't Die, this is perfectly normal spring-time weather here in the plains. Lived here all my life, half a century plus, as did my parents.

Debbie, reports are that 2 are dead and at least 23 injured. No news I can find yet on the nature of all the injuries beyond what eye witnesses have reported.
